summary: you attend the 2023 sidemen charity game and just to your luck, harry scores his first goal.

walking up the steps that led to the top of the lower blocks in the london stadium, you smiled, unable to contain your excitement for the game that was to follow.
the sidemen were having another of their charity football games, and as you always were, you came along to support harry.
arm in arm with freya, the two of you, along with faith and a few others of the sidemen family, walked towards your seats, your eyes flickering around as you took in the large amount of people who came.
it was a hot day, and despite feeling the material sticking a little to your body, you didn't regret wearing the black 'wroetoshaw 77' shirt, proud to show off your boyfriend.
leading up to today's event, harry had been moaning and groaning about not yet scoring a goal since the first charity match, but he was just happy to be out there with the boys.
"well, when you score your first," you'd told him, hand cupping his cheeks as you pulled his face towards you. "i'll be right there with you to celebrate."
that was more than enough motivation to give harry his end goal of the day ─── score a goal just for you.
collecting olive from ethan as they walked out onto the pitch, faith sat back down with the babbling bundle of joy, nervously tapping your thighs. "gosh, i can't wait for it to start already!" she squealed.
and you shared her excitement equally, a bright smile on your face as you watched harry looking around the block for you, blowing a kiss and waving your way when he spotted you.
you gladly returned the gesture, fanning yourself with the matchday program and shielding yourself from the burning sun.
as the match went on, you grew more and more interested. of course, it was for charity as well as for shits and giggles, but being with harry for such a long time, you become immersed in the sport that he loved so dearly.
with the first half over, freya had gotten you a drink with some extra ice cubes, and as you say with it, harry and the rest of the boys walked into the tunnel for their half time break, your lover giving you a wink as he walked past.
it didn't matter if he was sweaty or not; the sight of harry alone was enough to make you want to jump his bones.
holding onto that thought, you managed to make it to the second half without asking any questions like you usually would when watching football with harry.
"well, i don't get why they can't just run towards the other goal and kick it in then, if they're allowed to use their hands." you'd say.
"because... because that's just not how it works!"
and now there you were, stood on your feet as you watched vik pass the ball back towards harry instead of taking the shot himself, and your boyfriend didn't miss a beat; he kicked the ball beautifully into the back of the net.
you screamed so loud you couldn't even hear it, turning next to you to grasp freya's arms as faith turned her camera towards you to capture your reaction.
"oh my god!" you yelled, hands over your cheeks as you watched harry and the boys huddle together to celebrate his first goal for the sidemen.
breaking apart, harry turned to where you sat and held up a makeshift heart with his hands for you, albeit it looking like a circle at the first few seconds.
there was so much pride and love in your what for him, that when the game ended and he had his winner's medal and all on him, you couldn't help but smother his face in kisses, outwardly expressing your happiness for him.
"i told you you could do it," you whispered against his lips, his hair tickling your forehead.
"yeah, you did, didn't you?"
pressing his lips to yours briefly, harry pulled back to smile at you, his girl, and his number one supporter.
"looks like the wag life is about to become reality," he joked.
"oh yeah," you laughed. "the real deal."

So I was rewatching Saltburn and I had an epiphany!
Farleigh is in love with Oliver.
Like, embarrassingly, stupidly, head over heels.
I mean, I knew he had a thing for Ollie, with the jealously telling Felix about him and Venetia, the Richard III would put in the work line followed by him being completely disarmed when Oliver suggests that he fucks him, and then the actual Oliver seducing him scene, but I only just realized the extent of it and how far back it goes.
First of all, Farleigh notices Oliver before Oliver sees Felix for the first time.

Yes, I got the script because I'm complete Saltburn trash at this point. So when Farleigh is introduced, the script describes him as beautiful and pansexual, walking among a group of alpha hotties. So in the film, he's with two hotties, a guy and a girl. He has his pick. There's no reason for him to point out Oliver or what he's wearing to them, unless he's trying to impress them, but why would Farleigh Start need to impress them? He's already the centre of that group. Sure the script also describes him as an imp with a cruel streak, but after rewatching I feel like that's a blatant misdirection. I mean, he got expelled for sucking off teachers. Nerdy prep is exactly his type.
He says, "Hey cool jacket," to Oliver. If you interpret that line as being delivered by the beautiful and pansexual Farleigh Start, not the impish and cruel Farleigh Start, it's pretty much a come on. I'm mixed race like Farleigh and it kind of reminds me of those back-handed compliments white people give you when they think you're hot or cute 'for a brown person.' It's kind of hilarious to see it subverted like this, but obviously Oliver is less amused. Why would he interpret it as anything other than more bullying? Which it kind of is, so fair enough. But it's the kind of bullying people do when they get a crush they don't know how to handle. A little boy pulling on a girls pigtails. And it's obviously worked for Farleigh before. Why would he need to try any harder than that?
After Farleigh's comment, Oliver sees Felix for the first time. Farleigh is also there, but Oliver's already smitten and doesn't really notice him beyond, "Oh, it's that jerk from earlier and he's next to Felix, where I should be." Then you get a few other bits that wreck me. Oliver ducking from the window when Felix looks up, Oliver trying to sit at Felix (and Farleigh)'s table at the mess hall, but being unable to, Michael causing the disruption, but it doesn't even interrupt Felix and Farleigh's conversation. (Which ties in nicely to my theory of how the original Oliver wouldn't have gotten Felix's attention even if he screamed, he had to mold himself into what Felix wanted just to get noticed, but one theory at a time).
Next up, we have the tutor session that Farleigh is late for. Before Farleigh gets there, Oliver is humiliated and belittled for completing the reading list, which dooms Farleigh even more when he shows up and the tutor starts fawning over him. Oliver doesn't know Farleigh and Felix are cousins yet. He's just the guy that was snide to Oliver when he first got there. The guy at Felix's side that Oliver keeps measuring himself against. So yeah, Oliver is pissed off before Farleigh gets there and that cute little knee touch isn't going to change anything.

Yes, Farleigh, I also count the amount of times my crush uses a word in their essay despite still being hungover from last night's party, just so that I have something to talk to him about… Oh wait, no, that's just you.

The way he looks up at Oliver with those big brown doe eyes when he says, "I counted". The way he keeps looking up to gauge his reaction to all his comments. The way he's looking at him, period.

And Oliver doesn't fall for his cuteness and charm because he's just convinced that the intent behind his words is malicious. Poor Farleigh. He must have been so confused. People usually fold but here's this guy, meeting him blow for blow. He's never had to "put in the work" like this. What the hell.
The tutor sessions with Oliver and Farleigh (where Farleigh is framed lower than Oliver) actually serve as a nice parallel to a lot of the scenes where Oliver and Felix are together (and Oliver is framed lower than Felix). We don't really see that when Farleigh and Felix are together. They're usually at a similar height in those scenes.
Then we have the scene in the bar where Felix calls Oliver over and Farleigh has that panicked, "Oh shit, my crush is here," look on his face before it settles into resignation as he realizes Oliver is, "another one of Felix's toys". Finally the mystery is solved. This is why Oliver didn't fall for his charms at the tutor sessions.

So, Oliver prefers Felix to him, huh. That's just fine. He'll deal with the rejection by giving Oliver a hard time about buying the next round. That should push him away from Felix…oh shit, it brings them closer together. And now he looks like the douchebag.

Then there's this bit where Farleigh is looking at Oliver and Felix (mostly Oliver, the prior shot establishes which side of the room he's on, which happens to be where Farleigh's looking) and his party hat horns mirror the minotaur/how Oliver looked when he confessed his love to Felix later on. Oliver, you need to see how much Farleigh fucking loves you. Look at him, Ollie. Just look at him. (He can't, he's too busy looking at Felix)

Cut to Oliver's arrival at Saltburn, where Oliver joins the rest of them in the library and Farleigh loudly cuts off Elspeth gossiping about Oliver and his parents because hearing, "We were just talking about you" would be better than hearing whatever was going to come out of Elspeth's mouth next. And I mean, he's already the asshole. This is actually so sweet.

And we all remember this scene. This clearly made his day.

But then we get the encounter with Venetia and Felix and Farleigh both being equally pissed at the breakfast table. And yeah, everything goes downhill from there. It's the reason Oliver seduces him and gets him thrown out for what's literally just another desperate attempt to drive a wedge between Oliver and Felix.

Farleigh was down so bad he literally got honeytrapped and framed. Twice.
Between Felix, Oliver and Farleigh, there are really no winners. They really all got wrecked by love, huh.

✦ [All-or-nothing drunk] Isagi takes the time to calculate the blood alcohol level per drink and how long it will take for his body to process it all, before his plans are ruined by Bachira, who convinces him to drink everything with him. Isagi either becomes capable of anything or ends up on the floor, unable to speak or think properly.
✦ [Happy drunk] Bachira is overexcited, drags Isagi around and tries every drink. He ends up plastered on the floor, hugging Isagi like a pillow.
✦ [Talkative drunk] Nagi is surprisingly chatty, holding the bottle like a stuffed animal. He drinks straight from the bottle like it's a baby bottle, with a weird trembling smile on his lips. He mumbles stuff, but no one understands him.
✦ [Dramatic drunk] Reo takes the bottle away from Nagi to lecture him about sobriety, before drinking in his place. He ends up drunk instead of Nagi, starts getting sad, and eventually cries over his past failures.
✦ [Clumsy drunk] Chigiri giggles at every joke and stumbles around. He bumps into furniture and can no longer run. If he tries, he trips and falls to the ground, unable to get back up but still giggling.
✦ [Sober] Kunigami doesn’t drink and scolds those who overindulge. At the very end, he cleans up with a large garbage bag and escorts the drunk ones home, carrying people like princesses.
✦ [Sober and angry] Barou is typically like Kunigami but loses his temper with anyone who messed up the room. Unlike Kunigami, Barou drags people out by their feet directly.
✦ [Responsible drunk] Unlike Isagi, Yukimiya sticks to his calculations and drinks only the bare minimum before politely excusing himself from the party and heading home. He’s perfectly fine.
✦ [Amnesiac drunk] Rin forgets his first and last name. He turns red and drools everywhere without realizing it. Confused, he babbles incoherent words and looks for someone to comfort him. Basically, he's a big baby with teary eyes.
✦ [?] Shidou doesn’t show any difference between being sober and drunk.
✦ [Melancholic drunk] Karasu downs his drinks while sitting on the roof under the moonlight. His cheeks are flushed, and he mumbles cryptic things. Sometimes, he looks sad, but he hides it. That’s why he drinks alone on the roof.
✦ [Flirty drunk] Otoya flirts more than usual and giggles a lot. He also gets more touchy, throwing his arm around people he doesn’t know and asking awkward questions before moving on to the next person.
✦ [Innocent drunk] Hiori gets carried away by Isagi, who got carried away by Bachira. He drinks one glass and already feels hot. He can’t handle alcohol but tries to keep his composure, even though his cheeks are scarlet. More philosophical than usual.
✦ [Experienced drunk] Oliver has an average tolerance for alcohol but is a regular. Basically, he drinks until he falls asleep on the floor or someone, with a silly smile on his face.
✦ [Confident drunk] Sae can’t handle alcohol too well but knows how to pace himself so that the other person gets drunker than him. After a few drinks, he gets flirty and more demonstrative, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll see him smile.
✦ [Fake drunk] Kaiser actually drinks non-alcoholic cocktails and neither holds nor tolerates alcoholic drinks, as they remind him of bad memories. He doesn’t drink in public to maintain his composure and avoid being seen as vulnerable. Probably a sad and violent drunk if he ever did drink.
✦ [Weak drunk] Ness can’t handle alcohol at all and crawls on the floor after two drinks. He babbles nonsense and keeps calling for Kaiser, even to people who aren’t Kaiser, as they try to pick him up. He probably declares his love to whoever comes near him.

Consider, if you will, an Oliver Quick who goes back to the maze to save Felix not because he changed his mind, but because he never meant to kill Felix in the first place.
An Oliver who had planned to confess his True Love to Felix and then die dramatically in his arms (hopefully with a bit of sobbing from Felix, or at least a few appropriately devastated tears and maybe even an apology for being unable to love Oliver back the way he deserved), and who changed his mind at Felix's very thorough rejection to, "I'm going to live, I'm going to leave, and I'm never going to think about Felix Catton or his terrible family ever again."
An Oliver who wanders around Saltburn after his confrontation with Felix, wading through the fading dregs of his party and all the people who were supposedly there for him but didn't even know his name, because he was trying to take in Saltburn one last time before locking the memories of this summer away somewhere deep enough to avoid for the rest of his life.
An Oliver who has no idea that Felix drank something he'd been handed by his ex-bestie who he hated now, his ex-bestie who apparently "makes his fucking blood run cold," because really? Honestly, Oliver was kinda surprised that Felix even took the bottle from Oliver and didn't immediately chuck it at Oliver's head.
Why would he drink from it??
Except, at some point in his aimless wandering, he realizes that the bottle is emptier than it should be. Except, there's only one way he can see for the bottle to be emptier than it should be.
He'd be already running by the time he finishes registering the understanding that Felix drank from Oliver's poisoned suicide bottle.
And maybe in this universe, Oliver gets to Felix in time to make him throw up, but not quickly enough for Felix to shrug off the effects or be coherent without a trip to the hospital and some serious bed rest. So by the time Felix wakes up, Oliver is already gone.
Though this is still Oliver, of course, who can use any situation to his advantage, even horrifically traumatizing situations where he almost killed his ex-bestie/crush/One True Love. Honestly, Felix "overdosing" at Ollie's birthday party is the perfect excuse for Oliver to leave Saltburn without looking bad to Felix's family!
And the perfect excuse to still get screw over Farleigh, in the bargain.
After all, how could poor little Ollie with his druggie mum and dead druggie dad be expected to stay in a house where his best mate nearly OD'd on drugs at Oliver's party? Drugs brought into the house by said best mate's own cousin, moreover? It'd just be too traumatizing for him!
Of course, it would also be terribly traumatizing for him to go back to his mum's drug den of a home, too... and he did save the life of Sir James Catton's only son, from said only son's own stupid choices... gee what will he do?
Probably accept some hush money from Sir James Catton that could be used to rent himself a nice little flat near Oxford for the rest of summer. Only because James and Elspeth were so insistent that he let them help him, though, if he was truly set on leaving Saltburn with like half the summer left. Let them help him, and also agree not to go talking about Felix's unfortunate little overdose with other people, that is.
(Maybe this Oliver even gently nudges the conversation towards the idea of Sir James Catton using his connections to help Oliver change schools, so as to really lock himself into the "Getting Over Felix" plan. Nothing like nearly murdering your best mate after he finds out you've been lying to him for months and then brutally rejects your love confession to motivate some personal change, right?)
And then consider Felix: Felix whose last fuzzy memories are of Oliver going all crazy at him in the maze only to throw up a bunch and then finally leave Felix alone; Felix who wakes up in a hospital a day or two later to learn that Oliver did in fact leave Saltburn... but only after he saved Felix's life and then brutally threw Felix under the bus to his parents, first. Felix who learns that, oh yeah, also Farleigh's been kicked out again, possibly for good this time, what with his bringing drugs to the party Felix nearly accidentally offed himself at.
That Felix would have gone crazier than Oliver Quick, waking up to all that.

at least once a day when he’s back home on school break, he makes his mother and him chai to share with biscuits while they discuss catch up with each other.
absolutely loves writing letters. james spends hours penning them out to send to his friends, family, just about anyone he’s close with.
carries around a digital camera because he saw his father’s collection of photo albums and flipped through them one afternoon, becoming determined to keep up his own collection. has one photo album dedicated solely to the marauders.
james is fiercely protective over his friends and the younger gryffindor students. he has a pretty laid back demeanour but snaps to the defensive for the people he cares about when he sees they’re in trouble.
he’s something of a mother-hen. the marauders, who get the brunt of this, get exasperated by his fussing but he’s steady in his insistence on making sure they’re alright, well-fed and watered. ends up freaking out when they get sick because of this, much to their amusement.
he’s a bit of a neat freak. one thing his father drilled into his mind was having a proper morning hygiene routine and can’t stand how dirty the bathroom and dorms get with four teenage boys sharing the space, so he’s always deep cleaning at least once a month. imagine sisyphus with a mop.
very touchy. his friends’ personal space is his personal space. his love language is physical affection and he’s someone who’s very dependent on it. will idly hold someone’s hand while rambling on about nothing, slumped under an oak tree by hogwarts’ lake.
a very competitive quidditch player. he likes to pretend that everything comes easy to him out of some weird sense of pride or his belief that he’ll be cooler if he holds onto a facade of nonchalance but on a particularly manic day he could rival oliver wood’s special brand of obsessive enthusiasm when it comes to a quidditch match.
james and sirius “dated” for one week in their first year because they both wanted practice at a relationship so they wouldn’t fuck up if they got into a real one. they broke up because james spelled sirius’ knees into being unable to bend and laughed at how stupid his gait looked on his way to the hospital wing because he didn’t remember the counter-jinx.
there are a few words that james says completely wrong because he never actually heard them growing up—just read them and guessed how they were pronounced without going through the effort to figure it out—and up until he’s in his twenties, he’s still discovering bits and pieces of his vocabulary that he’s been pronouncing wrong for his entire life without knowing.
james didn’t learn to speak english until he was six but now he speaks it better than he does his mother tongue. every few summers he tells himself he’ll learn urdu properly, and every few summers, he forgets about this resolution entirely.
his relatives from back home had a collection of dvds that fleamont liked to watch for nostalgia’s sake, and as a result, james grew up watching them as well. by the time he gets to hogwarts, his mind is filled with bollywood classics, earworms in the form of love songs in hindi that twirl through his brain while he floats through detentions, and romantic gestures that seem just fantastical enough for him to try them on the first beauty he saw (read: lily evans) when he first stepped foot in hogwarts.
when sirius runs away from home for good and ends up at james’ place, they spend the first three weeks immediately afterwards sleeping in the same bed, james hugging him through nightmares while sirius clung onto him for dear life. something in their friendship changed for good that night, and james thought sirius became a brother to him at that moment.

Halsin x Tav x Astarion future headcanons
Halsin x Astarion is one of my favorite ships I cannot even lie. Maybe it is the werebear x vampire lover in us all that calls to me. Or maybe Astarion just needs to be given a bear hug. So here are some postgame headcanons with Tav
All three of you are pretty sick of society and other people so all three of you fuck right off to the forest. Of course the rest of the party is invited to visit the three of you whenever they feel like.
Halsin built a cottage for Astarion, you and Scratch. He also does live there, but he sleeps outside of the time he is prefers it. And he does love his home but also he would have been fine with a cave. This does not stop Astarion from convincing him to come to actual bed because cuddles.
Halsin of course is not the only person living there and sleeping outside. The Cub, Thaniel and Oliver. Oliver and Thaniel do have their own bedroom though! It is full of handmade wooden and stuffed toys from Halsin and Astarion. Oliver took to Astarion like a fly on shit and Astarion loves to teach this small child how to commit crimes. He even allows Oliver to practice pickpocketing on him… but if he gets caught he does suffer ‘The Wraith of Astarion!!!’ Which is Astarion tickles Oliver until he cannot breathe. Thaniel on the other hand was… not as eager to accept Astarion, at first. When they first meet He wasn’t rude. He wasn’t going to be rude to someone who helped save his life but it was obvious he had little interest in a vampire spawn who smelled like the city and death … until it became clear that Astarion was going to be with Halsin and not just with you .
And then things did change.
Thaniel is a smart, wise kid who knows his way around and about the forest. He knows the better then even Halsin does to be frank. He is also a fae. So, pranks.
he begins to prank Astarion nonstop. They are all harmless but extremely annoying. Astarion is not thrilled but has learned better then to lash out a child. And if he yelled at Thaniel he would never be forgiven. he is fully aware of this. So he is stuck in a game of kill them with kindness
and it works.
It takes awhile, a lot of warming up and a lot of patience but evetually Thaniel more then accepts Astarion, he actually does consider Astarion to be a parent. Astarion is still shocked it worked but he is so happy about it.
Thaniel and Oliver are not the only children you three have of course. Yvenna and plenty of children who got orphaned during the conflict who needed home. Any children you decide to have and well she is off on her own most of the time, Arabella does come to visit.
You are a nocturnal household. I know I didn’t need to tell you that with Astarion being a spawn and unable to go into the sun(You three are looking into hopefully helping him. Halsin has been trying to get the aid of the Oakfather well you and Astarion have been hunting for a different method that won’t any souls or threat of losing his own but it is a slow process).
more then Astarion though, Halsin is a nocturnal person. He is great at functioning during the day but he would rather not be. He likes the night. Perhaps that is the moon Druid speaking however.
Astarion becomes a ranger. He of course still keeps skills as a rogue handy but well, living in the forest, being around the animals and other things he… begins to find his skill set more at home hunting for animals and foraging in the forest then they were stealing and snatching people and items alike.
Halsin is of course extremely proud of him for learning about the forest and himself. And the skill set is of a great help with their lifestyle!
Fall is an extremely busy time for your household because there needs to be food put away for the winter. Halsin, Astarion, Scratch, the Owlbear and Oliver go out hunting well you, Thaniel and Yvenna all stay home and prepare the food. Preserving, skinning and bleeding everything. Once they are done forging and hunting, the ones who can help do. And even those who cannot certainly do try! it’s a lot of work but there is plenty when snowfalls to keep everyone feed. Winter also becomes the snuggliest time because cannot go outside, so may as well just stay nice and warm inside. Halsin does sleep a lot(inside the house) during winter. He is a bear, his nature is to hibernate and thus he does. When he is awake it is pretty amusing because all he wants to do is snuggle. would either Astarion or you deny him?
Immortal Angst with a Bittersweet Ending Time:
Astarion doesn’t fully… grasp that he is immortal. He knows it. He understands it. However he has been surrounded by vampires or people he saw at most five times before they were sent to Cazador. When Astarion realizes Halsin and you and Scratch and the Owlbear cub are aging, getting older and he isn’t. Scratch likely dies first, a long happy life and simply old age. Halsin and you are of course sad but do accept it happened but Astarion well…
Astarion disappears. And oddly enough so does Thaniel.
it causes everyone remaining in the house to panic and try to find the both of them.
Of course Astarion knew this was coming, he wasn’t an idiot but it still shook him to his core. He just sort of found stump to sit on and think. When Thaniel finds him he is great at comforting Astarion.
it is a long conversation between the two of them about being immortal and how well Astarion cannot die of old age… Thaniel reminds Astarion that he still can die. Thaniel will be around as long as the forest needs him. Likely how he survived the shadow curse to begin with… but Astarion can decide what needs him and when it no longer needs him.
So Astarion decides he will stay as long as his family needs him.
And so when centuries pass and it is just Astarion, Thaniel and Oliver and descendants who had long left the best…. Well.
Thaniel expect Astarion to decide that is when he is no longer needed… but Astarion stays by their side. After all, the forest needs them, so they are still here. They are still here, they are his family, so they need him.

In my own writing I struggle with giving each character their own voice (speech patterns, phrases they use) and in Dialtown each character is super specific. Are there certain things you had to remember for each character, other than Oliver using his fucked up slang lmao.
When I write my characters, I can usually hear them in my head to some extent. Like, I can picture how it would feel to talk to them, or if I tuned out while one of my characters was chattering away about something, I can kinda hear the unintelligible static.
If you want me to write a lil essay pointing out differences in how the characters in the main cast are written, alright, I'll bite:
Verbal ticks help differentiate characters for me. We all know about Randy's stuttering, but there's more than just that in how the characters' sentence structures affect how we see their speech.
Karen's sentences tend to end in periods, if they aren't questions or if her voice isn't raised. Almost all of Randy's sentences, meanwhile, end with ellipses (…) or hyphens to indicate he trailed off/stuttered his way through the ending. Oliver does occasionally end sentences with ellipses or hyphens, but defaults to periods and often exclamation marks, as he's pretty excitable. This alone shows the difference in tone/confidence that the main 3 have without changing any words.
The characters all use slightly different terminology when they speak. Oliver's fucked up slang is only a part of it, he also uses theatrical language, often framing sentences creatively and in a way that absurdly beefs up the word count of his dialogue. He uses fairly atypical adjectives, surrealist language. He refers to himself in the third person sometimes. He uses imperfect tenses in order to make his sentences longer/less uniform. I'll give an example, from when Gingi asks Oliver if film reel movie projection is magic:
"I consider myself a sorcerer of FILTH, perhaps (an apt conjurer of muck/grime), but this artform isn't QUITE witchcraft NOR warlockery, I'm 'fraid."
Okay, putting aside the bizarre content of the sentence itself, one curious thing to note is that the whole sentence is full of words that don't convey any additional information. Conjurer is a synonym of sorcerer and he uses two synonyms for dirty AFTER already using filth. Guy loves theatrical language and will structure his sentence to make sentences much longer, so he can fit more of it in. But, then ends the sentence by taking a whole syllable away from the word 'afraid' and abbreviation it, like speaking with an accent. Oliver's sentence pacing is completely different to other people because of the volume of odd language he uses. In the context of the game, he's also drawing the player in by creating a pause, as the next line is:
"No, the actual "beaming" work comes from our dear old movie projector, and possibly my greatest love: Big Bertha!"
He likes Big Bertha and enjoys talking about her, and he tries to draw Gingi in and get Gingi invested in this thing by drawing out the introduction and forcing Gingi to wait for him to introduce Bertha in suspense. Randy volunteers info as if he thinks you're gonna hit him, unable to stand silence and hence, the sound of his own thoughts.
To contrast, Karen uses direct language, mainly. I wouldn't call her speech robotic, as most of the time she can retract language, she does (I am->I'm, I would->I'd, etc) but usually she uses direct tenses, and takes fewer words to say what she needs to compared to, say, Oliver. Generally, the words she uses tonally matches what she says. Weirder, less usual words come out when Karen is reacting to something she finds weird/illogical.
Norm's speech could be described as someone with a heavy accent who's well read, but is slightly insecure about being well-read. He uses words like 'y'all', 'ain't', 'reckon', retracts words like 'to' as 't'', but if you pay attention, he occasionally uses technical, academic language that doesn't match the aesthetics of the rest of his language. You can take the boy away from book learnin', but ya can't take the book learning outta the boy.
Billy is aggressive and generally, his language is designed to make the player feel bad in some way. Generally speaking, he's either insulting you, mocking your knowledge of the world, pointing out something you said as stupid, or is using words like 'lmayo'. Billy doesn't care much about the player, but is interested enough to talk to the player as a means to offend/demean them until you run out of things to say or leave, frustrated, which is Billy's goal. If you view what he says in this lens, you'll see this accurately describes how he speaks to you.
Billy uses surrealist language occasionally to seem more hellish and inhuman, but often, uses fewer words than other main characters. Subconsciously, it's to convey that Billy doesn't respect you enough to use more words. When Billy DOES use big words, it's exclusively on purpose and exclusively to subconsciously belittle Gingi, like when he refers to Gingi as a 'amphibian moron'.
God, similar to Billy, tends to use fewer words than most other characters. He often gives formulaic dialogue responses. There's no psychological play here, God just genuinely doesn't care how Gingi or anyone else sees him or if his tone/phrasing is improper because he knows how little respect people in Dialtown have for him anyway and embraces it.
Sometimes though, he does use uncommon synonyms for words, a byproduct of having lived so long through other times/eras. The references he makes are much the same. Fucker occasionally references ancient Greek figures and expects the references to land, as if everyone present somehow would've once somehow met these ancient fellows.
Mingus uses formal, impersonal language, and tends to use uncommon synonyms for words. The purpose of this is to subconsciously belittle the person she's speaking to and affirm her social class.
While she'll skirt past a commonly used word for a rare synonym in order to make her speech sound more dignified, she rarely leaves out pronouns in sentences. The reason for this is because most of her speech has an indignant tone. She's complaining about some shoddily done action or what she feels is a lack of service. So, the last thing she'd want to do is miss the opportunity to rant directly about her grievances in direct terms. Creative phrasing isn't used to replace pronouns but used to more elaborately phrase the error someone has committed to further emphasize her dismay. EG:
"You created the entire universe, and yet, the ability to perform a simple CARTWHEEL eludes you?"
Instead of saying "can", she says "the ability", instead of 'can't do', it's 'elude'. Hell, instead of 'do', it's 'perform'. But, both at the beginning and end of the sentence, she doesn't think to phrase the sentence in a way to avoid repeating the word 'you'. Like I said, the flourishes are just to drive the point home that she sees herself as above the person she's speaking to and to reaffirm how absurd she sees the limitations of others.
How Jerry talks is basically the conflict within a well educated but defeated man whose brain is decaying from years of substandard life. His speech, like his brain, is in conflict. His job dictates that he should always use terms of respect, like sir/ma'am, but he curses too. When he raises his voice, his sentences are often short and abrupt, but the words he uses tend to be elaborate and rarely used. Jerry is educated, has opinions on stuff. His mind is wasted at his job, and even through his defeated cynicism, you can subtly see that Jerry wants a better life through the words he uses.
Jerry's speech patterns are actually quite close to the narrator, and this is intentional, actually. The two characters share a few things in common that affect how they speak. Namely: Having to deal with Gingi's antics. There's almost a tired parental tone to both.
I could ramble for hours (please don't let me do this), but those are some examples of core character writing differences, namely in how I try to use language. Incorporating subtleties into the dialogue is good for separating characters and when you plan these out so that these placed differences are specific to traits that the characters have, your work'll feel more alive and be more satisfying to analyze later. Overthink. Overthink overthink overthink. It works, at least for me.

Colours in Our Skyy 2 Bad Buddy x A Tale of Thousand Stars ep 3
In which I get a little bit more meta than I usually do...
So as we know, this ep was spent mostly in the forest on a few days during which the characters couldn't change clothes, which means there are less colours/clothes to comment on. That being said, the red and blue pairings were provided in all possible places.

Tian's plaid shirt from the night before also has thin red stripes to accompany the blue, and kampung's jersey and Pran's tote bag offer another pairing. I think there's also blue, red and yellow in Kampung's t-shirt. I love that Pran brought his bag with him - despite being lost in the forest, Pat is still metaphorically with him. I think it's also interesting that Pran's shirt looks almost camouflage, and that he mostly wears it when he's taking the lead - looking after Tian on the way to Bull Camp and then accompanying Phupha when Kampung goes missing. Knowing that Pran ends up portraying Phupha in the play - and despite Pran playing Tian in his and Pat's role-playing of the other couple - it's a clever choice in this ep.

Pat, on the other hand, does get a change of clothes at the start of this ep, and with the brown, green, and cream he looks like he's trying to imitate the rangers' uniform to be included in the search party.

Plenty of people have commented on how Pran and Tian have been made to look very similar, especially with their hair, but in the below scene it's so clear how the show is trying to have the characters 'imitate' each other. Pran and Tian are in the same colours, only the white and yellow are reversed in their clothing. Pat and Phupha, as already mentioned, also sporting the same colours. But the mixed-pairings also have similar shoes - Pran and Tian in canvas lace-ups with cream toes/soles, and Pat and Phupha in leather boots. The show is really drilling into us, 'look how similar these people are!', but as we learn from their interactions it seems Pran and Phupha are more alike, as are Pat and Tian (hence why they end up playing those roles in the play).

Once Pat and Tian have made their way back to the village, Pat changes into his teal shorts and a brown shirt. I haven't offered much colour-interpretation yet in this post but in general brown and olive green feature quite heavily this ep, especially with all the camouflage. I think this partly comes more from the atots side of this crossover and the use of earth tones in the original series, but it's incheresting that there's been so. much. talk. about sacrificing arising from this ep. I won't go into it all but they're all dealing with something (or multiple things) they have to yield on or sacrifice.
But Pat here, below, has a moment - a mini-Oh! moment - where he realises he has to yield to himself. Having this 'nonsense' fight with Pran and going through their experiences in Pha Pun Dao has made Pat confront and admit to himself something which he either hasn't realised or has been repressing for a long time - that he can't live without Pran. Yes, Pat has always wanted to be around Pran, he always wants to help him, and he's been depressingly lonely without him...but being unable to live without Pran seems heavier. And this realisation goes beyond acquiescing on the fight with Pran, because it has consequences for the bigger picture of their lives and hiding from their families. And that's scary. So no wonder he's perhaps repressed this from himself, instead feeling easier to tease Pran about him always needing Pat, to bicker about who needs the other the most, and to sit in the nonsense fight rather than acknowledge what it really means.
Incidentally, I like that Pat pulled the watch out of his shorts pocket - the object that Pran links to Pat and the teal that seems to symbolise their union as a couple.

Someone (sorry I don't remember who) mentioned that Pat wears a lot more stripy shirts now than he ever did in BBS, which is potentially an influence from Pran, but I love that they're both wearing their love and happiness when they reunite back at the village. I also sat up at seeing Tian's brown t-shirt with the yellow rectangle over his heart - reminiscent of Pran's long-sleeved top in ep 8 of BBS. Tian is ready to sacrifice himself and his health again to go into the forest to look for Kampung and Phupha, with his love for them driving him to do it. (In ep 8, Pran's love for Pat took him away from drinking with Wai to comfort a sullen Pat).

And then on to that final scene with Pat and Pran and we get Pat in Pran's red and cream/yellow shorts, and Pran in Pat's dark blue (or their teal)...and an ominous dark green. They're finding a resolution to their little fight but it's bittersweet.

Coming back to what I was saying about Pat's Oh! moment above, I think him asking Pran to apply the bruise cream was a way for Pat to admit to himself and Pran, albeit subtly, that he does need Pran, and for Pran to understand that admission. (And I'll quickly say that I don't think Pran needed to be the one to say it first but I'll come back to that below). When Pat gives Pran's watch back, however, he reverts to the teasing "Like I said, you can't live without me", he's trying to keep things jovial. Tian has already told Pran about Pat's realisation though - not to aid any teasing or to bolster one side of the fight, he doesn't seem that type of character (he's not a gremlin like Pat and Pran). No, I think he sees that Pat and Pran need this knowledge open between them and facilitates a way for it to happen. In true PatPran fashion, Pran goads Pat into saying it and Pat's soft look to Pran shows his gratitude to have the opportunity (below). Pat needs to admit it out loud to himself and to Pran - the person to whom it means the most for him to hear it. His sigh before he says it is a relief, it's releasing the hold he's had on his fear about what it might mean for them, and Pran's reaction helps alleviate that.

Pran's "Neither can I" isn't as big and dramatic as Pat's statement, but that's because it's not revelatory, not for Pran (who's known it since he fell for Pat in high school and couldn't get over him even after being sent away and pushing Pat away once they had reunited at Uni), and not for Pat - there was always some truth in Pat's original words, "without me, he can't do anything" and they both know that. Pran wasn't the one who needed to admit to Pat that he needs Pat because it's been known all along. But Pran repeating now, in his own way, that he can't live without Pat helps to strengthen their bond.
This moment is bittersweet because of their situation - there is no option to not be together, they've known this already but now it's been explicitly said, so until their parents can be comfortable with them together they will always be hiding something, making sacrifices. This is their life. They're able to understand that on a deeper level.
With this understanding, Pran, unable to do or say anything else, takes his focus to something tangible: The watch, and what it represents - Pat, his time with Pat, their history and connection from childhood, the gaps when they were separated, and their reuniting in Uni. @btwinlines started off a great thread about how time stops for Pat and Pran when they're apart, but the watch also represents how time might make things easier in the future and that all they can do is hope. And, in the meantime, love each other the best they can through all these little fights they have. It's not a grand resolution for them, like Phupha and Tian get later in the show, because they're not in the same place as the other couple. This is just a snapshot of their journey towards where we see them at the end of ep 12 in BBS, so if it feels like they're in limbo when we leave them, they are, but with a renewed perspective of each other and the poignancy of it all.
I'm almost certain this will be a coincidence, but I love that when Pran puts the watch on again it's almost at the same time as when he reset it at the end of BBS ep 1. I love that it's ten minutes later though, because it symbolises how time has moved on for them - i.e how much has changed - since they got together, and therefore how much more will change as time keeps moving forward. And that's something they can trust in.

Olive will find this support in Ambrose and quickly fall in love, he will not hide these feelings for long and if at first he just wants to spend time with Ambrose and don't expect anything from a so perfect man, he's gonna notice that his feelings may be not one sided, from that he will decided to do anything to be Ambrose's boyfriend. That includes discovering the reason of why Ambrose doesn't want him to be more involved with him, And Olive isn't afraid about putting himself in a dangerous situation, and more than that, he will never ask Ambrose to give up on his goal for him and will support him
Even when understanding that Ambrose personality's is mostly fake, he's still fine with being with him, because all he needs is being loved and he knows Ambrose's feelings are real

When meeting Olive, he's gonna act like always, as he spends time with the young man, he begins to feel a real attachment to him. When Olive will stop hiding his feelings for him, Ambrose is gonna act indifferent at first but will show more and more of his own feelings. Because he's actually looking for revenge and lives a dangerous life, he doesn't want to involve Olive in that. But unable to actually reject Olive because of how much he's starting to love him, he's gonna accept to let the young man stay by his side
Ambrose lost a part of himself and only have been looking for revenge since that, he has no idea of who he is anymore outside of that goal, and loving Olive will become the second only thing he knows is true about himself. Ambrose consider him like a light in the dark, but while he was scared this light could try to keep him away from his revenge, Olive will actually gladly accompany him towards his goal
They're both broken people who find a lot of comfort in each other despite their relationship being close to codependecy, they're both hoping for a future where they can both be themselves, happy together, in a much healthier realationship

The front door slammed, causing the house to shake slightly as Boris stomped through the entryway of the small apartment into the living area, his dirty boots tracking snow across the hardwood floors. He peeled off his leather jacket, throwing it aggressively onto the sofa before a figure sitting in an old worn chair caught his eye.
“What are you doing here, Yuriy?” Boris asked, a tired sigh escaped his lips as he gave the intruder and unconvincing glower.
He took a drink of the beer he had helped himself to, causing Boris to frown at Yuriy’s audacity. They hadn’t seen each other in over six months, at times they had been so contentious their mutual friends had been forced to split their time between them like children going through the painful, bitter, divorce of their parents.
“I had nothing better to do, figured I’d finally bring back all the shit you left at my place.” Yuriy said, slouching back in the chair and forcing Boris into an uncomfortable and direct eye contact.
“And why didn’t you just dump it on the floor and leave?” Boris asked, gritting his teeth, thinking whatever items Yuriy was returning now were better destined for the trash then returned, forever tarnished by painful memories that he’d sooner forget.
Boris heard his sharp inhale and cocked an eyebrow slightly, before finally moving from where he’d stopped upon discovering the intruder and grabbing himself a drink from the fridge and dropping into the old sofa across from Yuriy, waiting for a response.
“I thought maybe we… could talk?” Yuriy eventually replied, his voice was strained and slightly shaky.
“About what?” Boris asked, channeling the anger rising in his chest into twisting the cap off his beer. He heard the shaky exhale as Yuriy suppressed an irritated laugh,
“Everyone else is miserable because of us.” Yuriy spoke, unable to hide the bitterness in his voice and the scowl on his face.
“Astute observation, Yura, can’t believe you managed to get your head out of your own ass long enough to notice other people's suffering! That’s some real character development!” Boris replied sarcastically, dopamine flooded him as he watched Yuriy’s eyes narrow and his grip on the glass bottle tighten.
He had some nerve showing up here to talk about the suffering they were causing everyone when it was him who would fall off the face of the earth for months at a time in an attempt to run away from the shadows that kept him awake at night. 
Everyone else had started the healing process years ago, it was only Yuriy, only his fucking hubris, that had refused to be helped.
“I deserve that.” Came the soft reply, and when Boris’ vision refocused on the man sitting across from him the irritation had vanished off his face, replaced with a pensive look. This was new, he thought.
“Yeah you sure fucking do.” Boris said, not hiding his pleasure at Yuriy’s admission, it felt like their first step forward in a decade, like maybe, finally, the stubborn asshole was making some progress.
“Anyway… I was hoping maybe we could try to put an end to the aggression between us so that the others aren’t constantly walking on eggshells and scheduling shit to make sure we don’t catch sight of one another.” Yuriy spoke thoughtfully, and Boris recalled how he had loved how he looked when he was focused on something, how the way his eyebrows furrowed and his jaw clenched used to evoke a fluttery sensation in his chest. Only now, the same sight made him feel nothing.
“Yeah sure, but only if you’re going to try too, and not just expect me to be your fucking doormat or whatever.” Boris replied flippantly after some thought, he figured it would be in poor taste to refuse the olive branch being offered.
“So how about we uh, all hang out this Saturday instead of the weird split custody thing we’ve been doing?” Yuriy inquired, tapping a fingernail against the glass of the bottle he’d barely touched since Boris had come through the door, before the other man could reply he’d continue, disinterestedly: “As a test run or whatever.”
“Yeah.” Boris agreed, shifting on the sofa as the conversation began to make him feel restless. As if reading the room, Yuriy glanced at his watch before getting to his feet, prompting Boris to raise his eyebrow slightly before asking: “Leaving so soon?”
“I have plans this evening.” Was the simple reply as Yuriy moved across the room to retrieve his jacket from the otherwise empty coat rack by the door.
“Are you insane? What the hell are you doing going out on Valentine's D—“ Oh he thought: “—You’ve met someone.” Boris concluded, watching as Yuriy straightened his back
“I have.” He replied simply, not turning to look at the man on the sofa behind him.
“Neat.” Boris said awkwardly, his eyes staring at the other man's back as he fidgeted with the hem of his shirt, thinking about how in the past few months both Sergei and Ivan had commented that Yuriy seemed healthier, happier, and more cognizant lately.
“I’ll see you Saturday.” Yuriy's voice came from the door as he looked back at Boris, his hand resting on the already turned handle, waiting to push it open and make his exit.
“See you Saturday.” Boris confirmed with a slight nod as he watched the man look away from him and retreat from the tiny apartment.
Boris remained frozen for a moment, before leaning forward, setting the bottle on the floor and resting his head in his hands. He exhaled loudly, a bitter laugh followed as his hands twisted into fists pulling at his hair slightly. It was complicated, it was stupid, he was happy, he was agonized.
Their relationship had been long beyond reconciliation, every altercation between them had just further driven a resentful wedge between them, and it had started long before it had ended. By the time it was finally over, there was nothing left to salvage from the charred remains of their relationship, Boris hadn’t even been sure he’d ever be able to look Yuriy in the face again without wanting to put him in the hospital or worse. And it all had come from one thing, they had all moved forward and Yuriy had remained the same, unwilling to change, unwilling to be helped, always fucking unwilling.
And yet, at some point while Boris was consumed with overwhelming animosity towards his once best friend, and completely blinded by his disdain for everything Yuriy had ruined, their friends had began to comment that things seemed different, that he was disappearing less, that he was drinking less, that he was more himself again, and Boris had ignorantly thought, it was just wishful thinking from two people desperate not to watch someone they loved die. 
Because he had been there, he had seen it at its worst, behind closed doors and away from everyone else, he had watched the vestiges of their past consume Yuriy and turn him into an empty shell with no future but pain and death, and no desire to escape it.
But something had changed, while Boris was avoiding Yuriy, consumed by rage and regret he had failed to notice that someone else had appeared, who without any second thought jumped right into the madness and chaos of Yuriy’s inner world and steadfast and stubbornly remained until he was able to finally reach him and take his hand and pull him out of the nightmare that had consumed his every waking moment.
And Boris was happy, relieved even, that Yuriy had finally found something, someone, that he felt was worth fighting for…
But damn if it didn’t hurt that that thing hadn’t been him.

What is your absolute all-time favorite idea you’ve ever had?
I am equally proud of Silver Sentinels and Ascension. The magic system in S.S is really cool to me, and I’m having a lot of fun creating it. I also really love the magical creatures!! With Ascension, I have been creating my own mythology within the world as well as creating an entire species, and that’s something I’ve never done before and it is going to be incredible.
Is there a question you’ve been asked in the past that really stands out to you, and you still think about sometimes?
Not really, but I’ve only really begun sharing my writing and talking to other writers for a few months.
What is your favorite part of being a writer? What parts could you take or leave?
I love being able to navigate complex themes and emotions in a variety of different ways. Playing with different writing styles to mess with people’s heads is one of my favorite things to do, because I’m secretly evil. The one thing I wish I could get rid of is the guilt of not being able to dedicate myself to my writing all the time. I am so, so passionate about my two stories but with the little free time I have it’s hard to get in the right mindset, and I feel like I’m letting myself down.
What is your greatest motivation to write/create?
Initially, I just wanted to have a bit of fun. Recently, I fell in love with storytelling again when I watched this show called The Owl House. It was unfortunately struck down in its prime by D*sney and even though there was a series finale, a lot of its world building fell flat when the writers were unable to continue developing it. It broke my heart, and a week after I finished it I got the idea for S.S. It’s like my subconscious was trying to tell me that I could fill the void myself.
What is the best piece of advice you’ve ever read or been given as a writer?
Give yourself permission to suck, especially in first drafts.
I struggle a lot with just getting the story out because I feel like everything I write is incoherent, but I also am getting really into my own plot so I want to keep going. I just have to remind myself that it’s okay if it’s not amazing right now.
What do you wish you knew when you were first starting out writing?
You can literally do whatever you want. If someone doesn’t like the direction you’re taking, they just won’t read it. You’ll find an audience some day. Just give in and be your weirdest self.

Which of your characters would you say has the most controversial mindset? Why do you say so, and how do you personally feel about their ideals?
This is such a difficult question, but I’m going to go with Oliver, from S.S. His mindset is to basically do the bare minimum and expect everything to fall into place. Even from Ch. 2-4 he doesn’t even apologize or try to make amends, he just assumes Mara will forgive him because he got himself exiled too.
I think he’s a big dumb idiot, but I don’t think I try to hide that. He’s going to have very little development in book one for the sole purpose of me using him as a punching bag, so his idiocy is tolerated for now.
If you, when you first started writing, met you now, what would younger you think?
I think she would be super sad to know we became estranged from our longtime RP friends, but she would be absolutely floored that I’m attempting to write not one, but TWO multi-book series. At the SAME time. Yeah, little dude, we created characters in other people’s worlds, and now we create our own.

- Rodion Mahari - he/him
Rodion's name came from the book Crime and Punishment, one of my favorites of all time (and I absolutely recommend!! Read it!!). In the book, Rodion Raskólnikov is the main character and I knew I LOVED the name (I keep saying it aloud as a vocal stim even years after I read the book xD).
Mahari is his partner's surname, my best friend's @isazmoon former oc.
- Carpenter
His work aboard Blithe consist of maintenance and woodwork along the vessel; given that it was Rodion's former job before piracy, he spends most of his time taking care of Blithe. A skilled carpenter can keep the ship afloat even with major damage, just enough for it to reach a safe place to be restored - and that Rodion knows how to do really well.
Other than that, Rodion is also a really skilled fighter as gunner, that being his secondary role.
- God of Gold, of Lighting and of Woodwork
As many of the other members of the crew, Rodion is no more than a minor God - and the last one of the Gods to be presented. He's not powerful, but can still manage with what he has.
Rodion is capable of manipulating gold and turning things in it by touch, although generally speaking he tries not to use it. It's a temporary thing and normally whatever he turns into gold will turn back to normal in a while - unless it's a curse (for example, turning people in gold as punishment for a wrongdoing).
Lightning manipulation is another of his abilities; Rodion is able to store electricity in his body and project it out in bursts, although it can be dangerous to him and people around. It is strictly used during battles and can't be used out of it, given the risk.
Rodion is a really strong and tough guy, given his boar-like phisique. He can endure a good amount of strikes and punches - it does get to him eventually, tho. Boy's always complaining because he does shit, gets hurt and only feels it a good time later.
Finally, turning into a boar. He uses it to scare people and pull pranks. He's a menace. His children love it tho-
- Personality
Rodion may be big and tough but he's a gentle soul, with a big heart full of love to give. He's a cuddle bug, extremely caring and thoughtful of people. Rodia is the type of guy who'll not hesitate in potting his own life on the line for the sake of others (as many of his friends will attest, including his children).
Most of the time, Rodion is a confident jokester (seriously, him and Sirius should be kept very much apart or they'll wreck the whole ship). He does like to seem scary and intimidating at first, but really he's just a sweetheart.
Rodion is illiterate and dyslexic, almost completely unable to read or write, that being his biggest insecurity about himself. He tries to read simple books, mainly children's ones and comics, since he finds the images helpful. He's still a romantic soul and tries to write letters and poems to his wife, even though they are hard to comprehend and he can only string together simple words; she still saves every single one of them with a lot of love.
Most of the time, he makes carvings on wood to gift his loved ones; gift giving is his main love language.
He's a magnet of people, almost everyone is immediately drawn to him - maybe that's how he ended up with three adoptive children (Enoch, Olive and Kanna).
Funfact: Rodion met his wife after a street fight against her brother. It was truly something. I may or may not need to write it eventually-

What he swore to be just a few visits has become an almost daily occurrence. In the hours before sunset, he finds himself in the woods and outside Oliver’s home. Never emptied handed, he comes with whatever gifts he can find around the parish. Teacakes, flowers, even a few of his books. Both for the angel and Leander, his attachment to them growing every time he sees them. After a few visits, there’s more than one seat in the kitchen. Cups and plates become more frequent on the counters and books lovingly marked up as they share them. Ambrose writes notes in the margins in blue ink, leaving little doodles between each chapter. 
As much as he tries to, his thoughts don’t ever get holier. With each and every meeting, he feels the sin grow across his heart. Gentle touches couldn’t be more than friendly, not from an angel. He could only imagine the disgust Oliver would have when he realized how he’s defaced a creation of God. It’s left to his imagination. 
“You haven’t touched your scones Ambrose, are you alright?” Broken from his thoughts as Oliver’s wings flap against the bench, he looks up sheepishly from the table to face the angel. Lost in..thoughts. Looking at the blackened feathers and wondering how they’d feel along his back. “You’ve been awfully quiet, I haven’t crossed any lines have I?” An angel crossing a line. If his nerves weren’t so high he would’ve laughed. Oliver’s hand reaches across the table, grasping his hand and letting careful fingers brush along his knuckles.
“Has something happened?” The angel was kind, careful with every word. Like one could shatter the last of his sanity. “I’ve..I’m still, I’m still a sinner. Oliver, I’m still just sin. I’m worried that I’m doing something to you, corrupting you by being here, by thinking about..things.” Lying was a vice he couldn’t afford, burning up like hellfire when some truth passes through. 
Exasperation starts to show through, as Oliver leans back and spread his wings out across the bench. “There is no sin in your soul, I can’t tell you enough. Tell me what burdens you have that can’t just be confessed to another clergyman. It’s all I can do to help you and I promise that you’ll never lose mine or Heavens love.” Love. The temptation is endless. 
“I..I have done something. Destroyed an image of God. Defaced it. I did it because..I’m not sure why. I was so guilt ridden that I continued with religious studies until I ended up here. My body, I destroyed it. I was meant to be..grown from the rib, not giving one.” In the late autumn air, steam could rise from his cheeks with the hot shame that boils up. Someone finally new, with his new name that had never been christened. Expecting to be struck down and thrown out of the house, Ambrose closes his eyes to avoid the wrath of the heavens. 
His hand is kissed. 
“That’s no sin. If everything was made to never be changed, then why would there be wheat and grapes? To be human is to enjoy creation, to make something brand new. That is beautiful, you are beautiful too,” he whispers against the priests hand, rising and standing beside the quivering frame of a human. “Don’t be ashamed. Please. Could I show you? You are beautiful, so let me prove it. If you want, I can show you that your act is so beautiful, more than anything human.” When he opens his eyes, the angel is on his knees in front of him. Lips still against the back of his hand. 
Almost like worship. It puts Ambrose into a paradox. An angel wouldn’t lie but he couldn’t accept such praise. “That’s not the only sin. I think of things, enough to send me to Hell and back. Of me and other people, me and other men. I can’t say it aloud..” his voice cracks, tears welled in his eyes but unable to fall. 
“It means you’re human. That is beautiful still. I can show you that both are not sins. Do you trust me?” Both wings have raised, sheltering them both. “Trust me dear. It will be ok.” Only nodding, Ambrose can’t feel, but only sees the way he moves from a third perspective. Still engulfed in feathers as they move into a bedroom, the endless nature of the tree continuing on. He’s rather useless, swaying as he’s sat down on a bed. Warm lips meet his own, shameful noises caught in throat as the angel lifts his chin up. “It can’t be sin if I do it with you. Right?” 
“Right..” he mumbles, fingers reaching out to touch Oliver’s wings. If only he was allowed to clean them properly, then the dirt of the woods wouldn’t stick like ash to the delicate feathers. Nimble fingers start to gracefully undress him, unclipping the dog collar from his neck and lifting the vestments off him. Left in only a buttoned shirt and slacks, both soon to leave him. All while he sits in anxious excitement, staring and whining as his dignity starts to be taken apart. 
“You can make noise my darling. It’s just you and me.” One by the one, the buttons are undone until the angel is faced with his bare skin. Both of his hands drift towards the scars, thumbs dragging underneath them until they taper off. “Humanity is creating as much as you are a creation.” Switching his hands for his tongue, Oliver follows the same pathway of the scars, waiting for a reaction. Quiet, breathy cries that he can’t silence as he blinks slowly at the angel. The rest of his clothes are gently pulled away, left vulnerable and exposed to him. When he tries to cover anything up, the angels hands push him back. “Lay back darling, it’s ok. Relax, accept my worship.” 
Holding onto the soft skin of his thighs, he watches in fear as they’re spread apart. Within the folds of his cunt, his t-dick juts out and slowly harden as Oliver’s breath ghosts over it. “See? Beautiful.” Offering him privacy, his wings encase the priest. Leaving the view just for a fallen angel. Ambrose nods, trying to enjoy the affection he’s been craving for so long. 
Burying his face between the priests thighs, he starts dragging his tongue across his tdick and  taking it into his mouth. Happily watching how he squirms, finally laid back on the bed. Ambrose digs into his fingers into the pure white feathers along the crown of his wings, sobbing out the angels name just like any prayer. It’s better than any of the attempts he’s tried himself, shameful nights where his own fingers never brought him anything more than a few pitiful cries and a non existent wave of pleasure. His thighs close around Oliver’s head, awash with the brand new feeling of something building throughout his chest. Tight and hot, his shame now burning out into something new. “Oliver..Oliver please..I, it feels good, I need more!”
It’s greed, lust, possibly an entirely new sin. A heavenly tongue forcing out his unholy prayers, almost screaming for more. He starts to cry, sobs of pleasure and euphoria starting to blend together. Thinking about the warmth of his mouth, how perfect he feels against his arousal and how much he wants keep going. Ambrose doesn’t now how to warn the angel that he feels close, going quiet as he his thighs starts to tense up around him. All of the angels efforts seem to double down, sucking on his tdick and lifting his hips up to his mouth. Going rigid as the angels tongue moves perfectly against him, he starts sobbing again. When he cums against his tongue, he squirms in place on the bed and lets his hips continue rolling against Oliver’s tongue until it starts to burn. 
“Now, do you need me to prove it to you again? You are not of sin Ambrose.” Wings pulling him up from the bed, Oliver smiles and gently rests his hands atop of his tear stained cheeks. “Unless you’d want me to, of course.”

Seeing the Mirror in Myself
So this TopGun fanfic series... it’s been educational.  
I don’t know if this is peculiar to fanfic -- likely not, I can’t imagine it is -- but so many stories I’ve read are plainly folks trying to work through their real-life problems.  For me, that’s being a late-diagnosed autistic.  
And so, Maverick is autistic.  
He goes through times when he doesn’t speak.  He has sensory sensitivities from his sense of smell.  He has an overwhelming special interest that dominates his life.  He has cognitive processing difficulties.  He has internalized ableism and is too hard on himself, expecting himself to be stronger, better, just like the NTs ... 
But he loves Ice like he’s never loved anything else in his life, the loss of Goose is still fresh after thirty years, he loves dogs and will help people he doesn’t even know simply because it’s the right thing to do, even if he himself is in danger in the helping ... He loves airplanes and flying as the substance of his existence, and can’t imagine himself being anything but a pilot ... 
In these two weeks I’ve laughed so much and cried so much while writing these stories.  All of it here alone in front of my computer in between turning in applications for jobs.  
More nights than not I’ve been awake past midnight, writing.  Unable to stop.  This is my life.  This is what I was meant to do.  To bring these realities, these truths, from my hands into the world.  While tears burn my eyes and I cackle over the jokes I’ve told.  These two beautiful men who love each other so much.
They came from me, so it has to be in me to begin with, right?  
I’m not done with it.  No good story is ever done.  I’m writing one right now about how they fell in love, back in 1990.  Listening to old albums from my own past because the olive branch that will turn them from rivals to lovers is music, and it’s the music I loved.  
It’s a crazy world that won’t let me do the work I love simply because it doesn’t make money.  The work that gives me life.  The work I need to be whole.
